Life Down Under- Sydney edition

Why hello there friends!

So this morning I had my first experience with an uninvited visitor. There was a juicy Huntsman Spider in my bedroom ready for me when I woke up. It wasn't massive but it was still bigger than anything we've got back in the UK so I was definitely not prepared to deal with it, so I summoned my host Mum, Jackie, to help me out! I pray he'll be the only one to make an appearance but I'll keep you updated!

Other than that I've had a super exciting weekend! I had a long weekend off work so I decided to make a trip up to Sydney to see one of my best friends from home, Polly, who moved there around November last year. I had so much fun but it was such a shame that the weather happened to be terrible for the majority of the time I was there. It managed to hold back on Thursday night when Polly, her flatmates and I decided to go to the Ivy, a club which has free entry before 10pm on a Thursday. We spent most of the night at the amazing rooftop pool bar. Although there was a floor for every taste in music, I must admit there's definitely a specific type of person that this club is suited to. I mean no disrespect to anybody when I say this, but it was full of men eager to buy a girl a drink upon first sight, and girls who's skirts only just covered their bum cheeks. Despite that, I had such an fun time with great company.

The day after, mine and Polly's activity was limited by the rain and we even resorted to getting our hair cut in search of shelter (it needed doing anyway).  We did a bit of shopping here and there, and we went to the National Art Gallery where we spent a good hour or so yet we didn't even get past the first floor! The park outside the gallery was stunning, as well. Sydney seems to be much greener than Melbourne, I must say. After going to get an amazing $10 meal at the Madison Hotel we went home to get ready for another night out. We went to a pub style bar called Kelly's where they often have karaoke (unfortunately, not the night we went). There's a dance floor downstairs and a couple of pool tables upstairs, both of which were used a lot by our group. It wasn't too crowded but there was still a decent number of people there. It was a perfect night out.

LUCKILY, on my last day the clouds took a break for a good few hours so that I could do some proper sight seeing. Firstly, we went to see the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge and they definitely lived up to expectations- certainly worth the wait! The true landmark of Australia can be ticked off the list.

Then we took an Uber to Bondi where the first thing on our mind was food. Polly had heard of a cafe called XS Espresso. I'll just let the photo do the talking...

*Insert drooling emoji*

Then we saw the iconic Bondi Beach. The waves were huge that day so we didn't swim- didn't fancy being swept away very much! It honestly was such a gorgeous place. From there we did the Bondi to Coogee Beach walk. It takes 2 hours but you're so engrossed in the breathtaking views that you hardly realise how much exercise you're doing.

Just as we reached the end it started raining again so we headed home on the bus and we spent the evening cosied up with the flat watching netflix. In the short amount of time I was there I made some amazing friends and I really hope we stay in touch.

My flight on Monday back home was delayed by an hour but I managed to make it home in time to pick the kids up from school and my weekly routine started again. I had such a great time in Sydney, I may have to return for round 2!

I'll write again soon, friends!

Love Lizzy x
